What’s special about ENL oil thinner
ENL is offering a new alternative to traditional thinners. Based on a recent analysis of Leonardo’s oil paintings and the records he left, we recreated a formula that should be close to what the great master used more than 500 years ago.
Detailed chemical analysis Donna Nuda by Leonardo Da Vinci conducted in 2019 and published in the Journal of Proteomics (Elsevier) showed that he used linseed oil as a binder, rosemary oil as a solvent and gums for durability and flexibility of a final film.
Only natural nontoxic ingredients:
- Linseed oil for diluting paints
- Rosemary essential oil for better spreading
- Turpentine gum for smoother application and better adhesion
- The lavender essential oil that Leonardo added into some painting layers for a better performance
With more information available on Leonardo’s painting methods, this thinner will be modified accordingly.
