Daniel Smith watercolours are truly one of the worldwide leaders of watercolours for artists. Their palette contains more than 250 beautiful colours and each tube is 15ml in volume. Many colours are traditional that professional watercolour artists have been using for centuries. However, there are many “unique” colours that only Daniel Smith makes. These colours have already become very important to watercolour artists.
PrimaTek Watercolors are made from minerals, often semi-precious gems, that have been ground into pigments, mixed with gum arabic (the binder) and milled into PrimaTek Watercolors. Everything started with Lapis Lazuli Genuine in 1998. Amethyst, piemontite, serpentine and other precious stones made a great addition to this collection. These mineral colours have wonderful granulating effects that some artists have called “magical” and you can find some of them at RUSART.
Cadmiums and Cobalts in Daniel Smith’s lines are real. However, Daniel Smith has developed safe and vibrant Cadmium Hues with the density and richness of cadmium colours without the cadmium pigment. Virtually identical in colour to their namesakes, they are cleaner in mixtures and much stronger in tints. The working properties – staining power, semi-transparency and excellent lightfastness – are nearly identical to those of the low-soluble cadmium colours Daniel Smith previously manufactured.
