One of the softest brushes, Roubloff squirrel paint brushes, became watercolour artists’s favourites many years ago. Squirrel flat watercolour brushes are incredibly soft and so thin, that tips are hardly can be seen even under a magnifying glass.
Flat shape is not the hottest choice of watercolorists, who prefer round shape, but can serve well for spreading and washing techniques as well as soft glazing.
Squirrel brushes work for fluid paints only. They easily absorb water and release it gradually, which makes them unique and irreplaceable for watercolours. That is the only kind of brushes ensuring successful multi-layering and glazing techniques.
