Hand-carved wooden blocks are carefully used to stamp intricate designs onto handmade cotton paper, relying on the printer’s skilled eye and steady hands. Once the block is positioned, a sharp tap on its handle transfers the print paste onto the paper.

Symmetry is essential to the design, and the pattern repeats must be perfectly aligned.

Each colour is applied with a separate wooden block, with each layer stamped individually. This process requires a high level of precision and expertise to produce every sheet.

This traditional textile printing technique is labour-intensive, yet the results are truly remarkable.
